As of Monday, December 18, 2022, Jefferson Surgical Clinic physicians and staff are employed by Carilion Clinic.

Jefferson Surgical Clinic and Carilion share the same philosophy about the practice of medicine. We believe in an evidence-based, patient-centered approach that emphasizes care coordination and keeping people healthy. As a patient, you’ll receive the same care and compassion from your surgical provider. Also, you’ll have access to additional resources through Carilion, including MyChart, a secure online health management tool, and easy connections to many specialty services through an electronic medical record system.

If you have questions regarding an upcoming appointment, you can continue to reach your care team at (540) 283-6000..

The patient portal is no longer active due to system changes. Please call (540) 283-6070 for account questions or to make a payment on your account.

Project Access

What Is It?

Project Access of the Roanoke Valley is a physician-driven, community supported, patient-centered program that arranges and coordinates comprehensive healthcare services for low-income uninsured. The surgeons, specialists and physicians of Jefferson Surgical Clinic are proud to be a part of this important service to meet the needs of the under-served in our area.

A Commitment to Help

Jefferson Surgical Clinic is committed to provide the highest quality care to all in the Roanoke Valley community. Through our involvement in Project Access (a nonprofit 501c3 organization), we are able improve the well-being of low income uninsured persons by providing free health care.

How Project Access Works

New patient referrals are accepted from participating physicians, dentists and all regional human service agencies, but a referral is not required. Individuals seeking services can contact Project Access directly at (540) 344-4200.

Patients learn whether they are eligible for Project Access and a face-to-face interview for additional detail is scheduled. (Those not eligible will be referred to other human service agencies in the area.) Then, the patient is scheduled with a primary care physician (PCP) to evaluate their health care needs.

A Program That Works

Jefferson Surgical Clinic’s Dr. Robert L.A. Keeley brought Project Access to Roanoke over ten years ago. It has become an integral part of our practice and we believe makes a measurable difference in the quality of lives in the Roanoke Valley. We are proud to do our share on behalf of all the under-served in our community.
