Any vein has the potential to transform into a varicose vein. Varicose veins are enlarged and knotted and most commonly occur in your legs and feet. Standing and walking upright puts pressure on the veins in your lower body.
Some people develop spider veins, which is a common and mild form of varicose veins. These are not painful or harmful to your overall health.
Varicose veins, however, can cause aching pain and discomfort. These can be a signal of a more serious medical issue – and could mean you’re at higher risk for developing other circulatory problems.
Both Varicose and Spider veins can be removed through a procedure called Sclerotherapy. A solution is injected into the veins using a very fine needle. This causes the veins to collapse and eventually disappear.
