You could say medicine runs in the family of Dr. Chris Reynolds, the new urologic surgeon at Jefferson Surgical Clinic. His twin brother Austin is an emergency room doctor in northern Virginia and his sister Erin is a VP for a children’s hospital.
Dr. Reynolds knew early in life that he wanted to combine his love of science with a career helping people. It was during work at the V.A. Hospital in Salem as a medical student that he first got to know the Roanoke area and “loved the vibe of the region.”
A surgical opening a JSC brought him back to our area. He explains, “I spoke with Karen, learned more about the practice, and ended up meeting the surgeons. I felt really comfortable with them almost immediately. Then adding in the robotic surgery element [allowing minimally invasive procedures], it all just seemed to come together perfectly.” Joining our team of urologists, Reynolds will be providing specialized surgical expertise and treatments including surgery for cancers, congenital abnormalities and stress incontinence.
Dr. Reynolds and his wife, Dr. Sarah Nie, relocated to the Roanoke area this past summer, which keeps them near their families. Before the move, Reynolds said, “We’re looking forward to getting back to Virginia. We love eating out and being in the outdoors, so this area will be great for us. And while, technically, Reynolds hasn’t lived in our area before, it already feels familiar to him. He noted, “It’ll be nice to be back in Virginia–we consider it our home state.”
